GUNTHER Rants About Jey Uso
GUNTHER opened Raw with a fiery promo as it’s now the world champion who seems rattled. Jey Uso did not interrupt GUNTHER in any way, and it was confirmed that the two would clash on WrestleMania Saturday, likely in the opener.
GUNTHER Promo Grade: B
Bayley Def. Liv Morgan
Despite having seemingly forever to build this WrestleMania card, the women’s tag team match had a rushed build. Despite the star power in this match, with top stars Liv Morgan and Bayley, this match runs the risk of being put in a “popcorn” spot.
Raquel Rodriguez tried to interfere, but an Oblivion was countered by Lyra Valkyria. Lyra helped Bayley pick up the win and the two are on the same page. For now.
Bayley vs. Liv Morgan Grade: B-
Rey Mysterio Def. Julius Creed
Rey Mysterio gave Julius Creed a ton of offense in a highly athletic match. Fans chanted “this is awesome” as Rey kept up with Creed like it was 1996.
Chad Gable was ringside, only to be kicked out for interference. Of course, El Grande Americano returned ringside with a steel plate in his head.
An interference attempt by El Grande Americano backfired as Mysterio picked up the win over Creed.
El Grande Americano wiped out all of the LWO with his steel mask, setting up for a WrestleMania match that he’s trending toward losing. I think there’s still a ton of juice in this feud, and win or lose, it should build to a Mask vs. Mask match.
Rey Mysterio vs. Julius Creed Grade: B+
AJ Styles Def. Karrion Kross
Karrion Kross wore tights designed by AJ’s stylist. They were black tights that were symbolic of Styles’ darker side.
Karrion Kross—who towered over Styles—made the most of his rare singles appearance on Raw. He did a helluva job and got a ton of heat as an irreverent, almost comedic, heel.
Kross was miscast as a “killer.” His personality really shines through when he gets to be a troll.
Logan Paul, Heat Machine, called out Sacramento for not being cool enough to live in Los Angeles, and not being smart enough to live in San Francisco. Styles then threw to a cinematic video package showing his WWE highlights.
With help from Kross, Paul laid out Styles with a Titanium Punch followed by a Paulverizer.
AJ Styles vs. Karrion Kross Grade: B
Jey Uso Appears Live
Jey Uso was still mourning as he wore all black and donned a pair of standard sunglasses as opposed to his flamboyant yeet shades.
Jey Uso donned a new neck tattoo. Fans went crazy for his entrance per usual, and Jey answered their prayers by running it back.
Jey Uso kept his promo short and sweet, calling GUNTHER afraid before going back to yeeting with Sacramento.
Jey Uso Promo Grade: B-
Finn Balor Def. Penta By DQ
Backstage, Bron Breakker was attacked by Judgment Day who sold a shoulder injury ahead of WrestleMania.
Penta shushed the announce team and connected with one of the loudest chops I’ve ever heard.
Toward the end of a back-and-forth match, Breakker hit the ring and took out Balor, but was outnumbered by the Judgment Day.
Penta vs. Finn Balor Grade: B-
Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman Appear Live
Backstage, Roman Reigns caught Paul Heyman and CM Punk having a conversation. The OTC was seething.
Roman Reigns was followed by an apologetic Paul Heyman as Reigns stormed to the ring. Reigns said Paul Heyman betrayed him, prompting fans to chant “you f—ked up.” Reigns encouraged Sacramento to chant louder.
Seth Rollins interrupted, dressed like a cargo Scott Hall.
Seth Rollins called Saturday’s main event the most important Triple Threat Match in WrestleMania, which is a bold claim coming from Rollins considering Seth won his first world title in a WrestleMania Triple Threat.
Fans chanted for CM Punk as Seth Rollins cut yet another strong promo. Rollins called Heyman a scumbag while still teasing that there’s a chance the Wiseman could join Seth Rollins at WrestleMania.
Reigns got the better of Rollins a brief brawl. Reigns then pie-faced Paul Heyman before another a brawl with CM Punk that ended in a Spear on Punk. Rollins finished the brawl with a poetic steel chair to the back of Roman Reigns and a Curb Stomp on both Reigns and Rollins.
