The Ethereum Foundation (EF), a non-profit overseeing the development of the Ethereum blockchain, named Hsaio-Wei Wang and Tomasz Stanczak as its new co-Executive Directors on Saturday. Wang, a Taiwan-based researcher and community organizer, brings years of experience within the ecosystem. Meanwhile, Stanczak, the founder of Nethermind, will assume his role on March 17, pending final paperwork. The duo replaces Aya Miyaguchi, who transitions to president after seven years as Executive Director.
The EF emphasized that Ethereum remains a decentralized, censorship-resistant platform for global finance and software. Wang reinforced this stance on X, stating that the organization’s core values endure despite its evolution. Stanczak also addressed concerns about the co-leadership structure online. He explained that stakeholders can choose either director to engage with, based on preference, ensuring flexibility and efficiency in communication.
5/ Ethereum is evolving into a robust, permissionless, and censorship-resistant base layer for global finance and software. The ecosystem will succeed together, and under the leadership of Hsiao-Wei and Tomasz, EF will advance the core values that motivated Ethereum’s existence…

Danny Ryan Returns with Etherealize Venture
Former EF researcher Danny Ryan re-enters the Ethereum space as co-founder of Etherealize, a new entity focused on institutional marketing and product development. Ryan, who left the EF in September 2024 after coordinating Ethereum’s shift to proof-of-stake, teams up with Vivek Raman. Their initiative targets adoption, regulation, and research across Ethereum’s layers. Ryan shared on X that Etherealize bridges Ethereum with real-world applications, complementing Raman’s efforts to connect external systems to the blockchain.
Some holders previously supported Ryan for the EF’s top role. Wallets holding over $120 million in ETH endorsed him in an informal vote, favoring a sole director over a co-leadership model. However, Ryan’s return through Etherealize shifts his focus to broader ecosystem growth. Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s co-founder, congratulated Ryan, Wang, and Stanczak on X, signaling strong community backing for these transitions.
Leadership Changes Amid Market Fluctuations
Ethereum’s price dropped 1.9% in the past 24 hours, according to The Block’s ETH Price Page, despite the leadership announcements. The EF’s new co-Executive Directors aim to steer the blockchain’s development amid this volatility. Stanczak plans to step down from some current roles to focus on his EF duties, promising further updates soon. Wang, known for her research contributions, pledges to uphold it’s foundational principles as it scales.
Meanwhile, Buterin and other researchers recently discussed the network’s long-term vision in a Reddit AMA. The “endgame” conversation highlighted technical and strategic priorities for the blockchain. With Wang and Stanczak leading the EF, and Ryan driving Etherealize, positioning itself for growth. These changes reflect a coordinated effort to balance innovation, adoption, and stability in a competitive crypto landscape.
