After almost three years, Andor is back for its bittersweet final season. The first three episodes of Season 2 premiered on April 22, but when will the rest drop on Disney+? Here’s everything to know about the show’s unconventional release schedule.
Season 2 will have 12 episodes broken into four chapters of three episodes each. The next installment begins one year after the Ferrix uprising from the Season 1 finale and follows Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) over a four-year journey. The story starts in 4 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin) before ultimately leading into the events of Rogue One.
“So, when we come back for our second half, it’ll be a year later. An entire year will have gone on,” series creator Tony Gilroy told ScreenRant. “All kinds of things will have happened, and we’ll pick up the show; sometimes we’ll do a week, we’ll do three days, we’ll do four days, whatever, and then we’ll drop a year in between.”
The official synopsis for Season 2 reads: “In an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue, Cassian Andor will discover the difference he can make in the struggle against the tyrannical Galactic Empire. He embarks on a path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.”
In addition to Luna, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, and Adria Arjona are reprising their roles for Season 2. Rogue One actor Alan Tudyk is also joining the cast as K-2SO, but he won’t be the only exciting cameo fans will see in Season 2. Gilroy teased to Entertainment Weekly that there will be more cameos from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in the next chapter, including some that are “inevitable” and others that are “surprising.”
“You certainly know who’s gonna be on Yavin 4. [Cassian] and Mon Mothma have a scene together in ‘Rogue [One],’” Gilroy said. “So yeah… And the calendar’s inevitable, in some ways, for the people in this convention, for the people who really know this five years, there’s some big events on the calendar that we have to pay attention to. And we will.”

Why Is Andor Ending With Season 2?
Andor was originally planned as a five-season series but was later revised to consist of just two seasons. Luna explained to The Hollywood Reporter that since each season takes approximately two and a half years to produce, it would have been “impossible to keep the rigor, the attention to detail that we have in this show” for five seasons.
“It’s the best that could happen, saying let’s have two seasons, let’s finish in a moment where we’re all loving what we are doing, when we’re in love with not just the material but the process,” the actor continued. “It hurts to say goodbye, but it’s better to say goodbye at this moment than when you can’t keep going.”
