“Wicked” was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including best picture.
The film, which is only the first half of “The Wizard of Oz” prequel story, is the highest-grossing Broadway musical adaptation of all time. The November opening weekend of “Wicked” made $164 million at the box office, trumping all prior Broadway-to-big screen adaptations, including “Les Misérables.” “Wicked” grossed more than $728 million worldwide as of February 28.
