Tim Burton is bringing to Wednesday Season 2 a pair of cast members who have worked with the director on some of his previous movies.

Netflix
made the official announcement for Wednesday Season 2 with a Thing-centric video, where the disembodied hand delivers scripts in front of the doors of the show’s cast members.

The final delivery, naturally, went to Wednesday star Jenna Ortega, who upon receiving her script delivery says, “Hello, Thing. More torture awaits.”

The cast announcement revealed that Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor are among the new regulars for the series. Among the new guest stars for Wednesday Season 2 are Joanna Lumley, Christopher Lloyd, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo and Joonas Suotamo.

The announcement also noted that Wednesday Season 1 guest stars Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo have all been promoted to series regulars.

Two of the new members of Burton’s acting troupe for Wednesday have previously starred in the director’s films. Lumley — who will play Addams family member Grandmama — voiced the role of Maudeline Everglot, the taciturn future mother-in-law of Victor Van Dort (Johnny Depp) in Corpse Bride. An Oscar-nominated stop-motion animated feature, Corpse Bride was directed by Burton and Mike Johnson in 2012.

The other Burton movie veteran joining the Wednesday troupe is previously announced cast member Steve Buscemi, who will play Barry Dort in Wednesday Season 2. Buscemi previously starred as Norther Winslow opposite Ewan McGregor’s young Ed Bloom in Burton’s 2003 fantastical adventure drama Big Fish.

The Wednesday Season 2 cast lists Noah Taylor as a new cast member, but it is not the actor who played Charlie Bucket’s father, Mr. Bucket, in Burton’s 2005 fantasy adventure Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Instead, it is Noah B. Taylor, who made his acting debut in a guest role in Law & Order: Organized Crime in 2023.

Details About ‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Episode 1 Revealed In Cast Announcement

In addition to the announcement of the new cast members in Wednesday Season 2, the Netflix’s video gave some details into the season’s first episode.

As Jenna Ortega picks up the script that Thing delivered to her near the end of the video, the shot focuses on the title page of the script, which says, “Chapter One: Here We Woe Again.”

The episode is written by series creators Alfred Gough & Miles Millar and is directed by Tim Burton, who is also an executive producer on Wednesday.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming for Wednesday Season 2 has commenced in Ireland. Last season, the trade publication noted, was filmed primarily in Romania.

Netflix has yet to announce an official premiere date for Wednesday Season 2, only noting in the video that it is “coming soon.”
