Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the added 0.93% to hit a new 1-month high, while the index gained 0.53%, and the index climbed 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the were Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:), which rose 2.21% or 8.79 points to trade at 406.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Boeing Co (NYSE:) added 2.12% or 3.70 points to end at 178.50 and Walt Disney Company (NYSE:) was up 2.05% or 2.23 points to 111.04 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Travelers Companies (NYSE:), which fell 2.11% or 5.21 points to trade at 241.51 at the close. Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:) declined 0.40% or 0.25 points to end at 61.53 and Chevron Corp (NYSE:) was down 0.26% or 0.40 points to 156.01.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 10.10% to 42.39, GE Aerospace (NYSE:) which was up 6.60% to settle at 200.80 and Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 5.41% to close at 64.29.
The worst performers were Electronic Arts Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 16.70% to 118.58 in late trade, Leidos Holdings Inc (NYSE:) which lost 7.57% to settle at 148.91 and Amentum Holdings LLC (NYSE:) which was down 6.14% to 21.70 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Dogwood Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 376.79% to 13.35, Transcode Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 57.14% to settle at 5.50 and Evaxion Biotech AS (NASDAQ:) which gained 52.94% to close at 3.64.
The worst performers were Chanson International Holding (NASDAQ:) which was down 86.97% to 0.82 in late trade, Jupiter Neurosciences Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 59.50% to settle at 1.45 and Icon Energy Corp (NASDAQ:) which was down 58.78% to 0.54 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1597 to 1168 and 100 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1901 rose and 1382 declined, while 138 ended unchanged.
Shares in Electronic Arts Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 16.70% or 23.77 to 118.58. Shares in GE Aerospace (NYSE:) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 6.60% or 12.44 to 200.80. Shares in Chanson International Holding (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 86.97% or 5.48 to 0.82. Shares in Jupiter Neurosciences Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; falling 59.50% or 2.13 to 1.45. Shares in Icon Energy Corp (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 58.78% or 0.77 to 0.54.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.36% or 10.01 to $2,760.89 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.60% or 1.21 to hit $74.23 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.52% or 1.20 to trade at $77.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.04, while USD/JPY fell 0.29% to 156.03.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 107.93.
