Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

Well I got super lucky today. I fiddled around with some starting word ideas that I didn’t really care for before landing on space. I had no idea that would be such a good guess! With three green boxes, I could only come up with two possible solutions: slice and since. I liked slice better, and sure enough it was the Wordle! Huzzah!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get 2 points for guessing in two and 1 point for beating the Wordle Bot, who guessed in three. 3 points for me!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.

If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “slice” comes from the Old English word “slīcian,” which means to cut or cleave. This Old English term is derived from the Proto-Germanic root “*slīk-” and is related to the Old High German “slīzan” and the German “schleißen,” meaning to slit or slice. The sense of using a sharp instrument to cut something into pieces has been retained in the modern use of the word “slice.” The concept of slicing as a cutting action has broad applications, ranging from slicing food to slicing through air or water in different contexts.
