Gene Haas is not going anywhere. The veteran Nascar and Formula 1 team owner will continue his Nascar precense in 2025 after Stewart-Haas Racing shuts down at the end of the 2024 season.

Haas announced on Thursday the formation of Haas Factory Team, which will keep one of SHR’s four Cup Series charters and continue to field two Xfinity Series cars. Drivers, sponsors and the manufacturer were not announced.

“My commitment to motorsports hasn’t changed, just the scope of my involvement,” Haas, who has fielded a full-time Cup entry since 2003, said in a statement. “Operating a four-car Cup Series team has become too arduous but, at the same time, I still need a platform to promote Haas Automation and grow HaasTooling.com.”

Joe Custer, currently the president of Stewart-Haas Racing, will transition to the same role with the new team.

“Maintaining my presence in Cup allows Haas Automation to compete at Nascar’s highest level, which is important to our customers and distributors,” Haas said. “The Xfinity Series program provides a full weekend experience for our guests, and it delivers added depth and scale to our overall operation.”

The new team will operate out of the current SHR shop.

Stewart-Haas Racing announced its closure in late May. Front Row Motorsports purchased one of the charters, and two charters remain for sale. 23XI Racing and Trackhouse Racing appear to be the teams most likely to purchase those.
