The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter, that Musk’s political involvement involves sitting in meetings trying to figure out how to get more Trump voters to the polls.

Musk has been convening hour-long weekly meetings with the consultants and vendors from America PAC, a pro-Trump organization he formed, the Journal reported.

The meetings, which started in spring, were focused on raising voter turnout for Trump in battleground states, per The Journal. Several swing states, including Pennsylvania, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Michigan, will be vital for Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 race.

Musk has, for his part, denied that he’s pouring millions into the Trump campaign. When The Journal reported last month that Musk is planning to donate $45 million a month to America PAC, he posted a meme with the caption “FAKE GNUS” on X.

Back in March, Musk also said in an X post that he wasn’t “donating money to either candidate for US President.”

Musk also denied making a $45 million donation during a July interview with psychologist Jordan Peterson.

In May, Musk also refuted a report from The Journal that said Musk had spoken to Trump about joining a second Trump administration, writing in an X post that “there have not been any discussions of a role for me.”

However, Musk appears to have softened his stance on working for a potential Trump administration.

He told podcaster Lex Fridman in an interview that aired on August 2 that he has “discussed with Trump the idea of a government efficiency commission” and told Trump he’d be willing to be on it.

Musk also brought up the idea of him serving on such a government efficiency commission during his livestream with Trump on Monday night. Musk said this commission would help ensure American taxpayer dollars are being “spent in a good way.”

Representatives for Musk and the Trump campaign didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular business hours.
