The Cleveland Cavaliers are bringing in Marcus Morris Sr. for frontcourt depth.
As first indicated by Milwaukee Bucks guard (and former teammate) Patrick Beverly via the X account for his podcast, Morris is coming to Cleveland. Per The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the deal is a 10-day deal and he’ll be able to play on Monday in the Cavaliers’ game against the Indiana Pacers.
If he sticks around beyond the initial 10-day deal, Morris is playoff eligible. He was bought out by the San Antonio Spurs after being sent there in a three-team deal at the NBA trade deadline. He started the season with the Philadelphia 76ers and has also played for the Houston Rockets, the Phoenix Suns, the Los Angeles Clippers, the New York Knicks, the Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons.
Morris has career averages of 12.1 points and 4.5 rebounds. In 37 games with Philadelphia, he had averages 6.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game while shooting 43.9% from the field.
Morris could play on Monday in his first game, as it sounds like Donovan Mitchell will be out, Dean Wade has missed time with an injury and Max Strus and Evan Mobley are both still out. Whether he plays at all when the team is fully healthy remains to be seen.
