Ariana Grande once again claims the bestselling album in the U.S., thanks to a strategic re-release that sent fans rushing to buy Eternal Sunshine all over again. The title, which originally dropped a year ago, was recently reissued as a new deluxe edition, one that bundled extra content with the original project. Since both versions were counted as a single release, Grande skyrockets up the weekly rankings in her home country. This time around, Eternal Sunshine easily outpaces the competition.
Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine is a Bestseller
Eternal Sunshine sold 61,000 copies in the latest tracking span, according to Luminate. That’s an astronomical jump from the prior frame, when the title was purchased just 1,100 times. With sales rising several thousand percent week-over-week, the collection surges back to No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart, Billboard’s ranking of the bestselling efforts in the country.
Eternal Sunshine Easily Outpaces the Competition
Even a number of the strongest debuts on the latest edition of the Top Album Sales chart couldn’t come close to matching Grande’s total. Lucy Dacus arrives at No. 2 with her new release Forever Is a Feeling, which starts with 23,700 copies sold. That’s a solid opening — but Eternal Sunshine still outsold that figure by more than two and a half times.
Ariana Grande Outsells the Next Three Albums Combined
Grande didn’t just beat the runner-up by a wide margin — Eternal Sunshine actually outsold the next three bestselling albums in America combined. Behind Dacus at No. 3 is Mumford & Sons with Rushmere, which launches with 20,500 copies. Then there’s Lady Gaga’s Mayhem, which slips from No. 2 to No. 4 with 10,400 more sold. Altogether, those three titles add up to 54,600 units, which still falls short of Eternal Sunshine’s 61,000.
Eternal Sunshine Rules Multiple Billboard Charts
In addition to leading the sales-only ranking, Eternal Sunshine also reclaims the top spot on the Vinyl Albums chart. The project wasn’t even on that tally during the previous frame, but it reenters and rockets straight to No. 1.
Perhaps most impressively, Grande also vaults back to No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Eternal Sunshine catapults from No. 87 all the way to the summit in a massive leap that reflects her fanbase’s purchasing power, and the excitement around the set, which now comes with the extended title Eternal Sunshine: Brighter Days Ahead.
