Warning: Major spoilers ahead for “Temptation Island” season one.
On Netflix’s “Temptation Island,” Brion fails the commitment test his girlfriend sets him by having a threesome, but they are still together.
Brion, a 26-year-old financial advisor, and Shanté, a 29-year-old account executive, are one of the four main couples on Netflix’s first season of “Temptation Island.” The series first premiered on Fox in 2001. But after a reboot on USA in 2019, which lasted five seasons, Netflix acquired the rights and added “Temptation Island” to its growing slate of dating shows.
In the series, couples are separated and put in a house full of singles eager to test if they will cheat.
In the first episode, Brion says he met Shanté through a mutual friend at his church and they have dated for a year.
They say they want to take part in the experiment to affirm their commitment to one another.
“I’m just at the point now where I want to show her that I can stop being so flirtatious,” Brion says. “I think I’m just ready to take our relationship serious.”
Brion says he broke up with Shanté early on in the relationship to be with another woman, but returned after realizing that “the grass isn’t greener.”
Shanté says that Brion is a “really sexual person” and has asked her to work on “being more sexual towards him.”
Brion cheats on Shanté, but she takes him back
While the women in relationships on “Temptation Island” initially don’t show any interest in the single men, the men flirt with the single women once they are separated from their partners.
Brion bonds with four women — Amiah, Courtney, Angel, and Alex. He complains to them that he wants a threesome and to be sexually adventurous, but his girlfriend isn’t interested.
In episode four, Alex and Brion enter his bathroom together and close the door. There is no camera angle to show what happens in the room, making him look suspicious.
In episode five, Courtney and Alex ask Brion if he would like to have a threesome, and they make some telling noises in the bathroom and leave naked the next morning.
Every few episodes, the original couples congregate at separate bonfires for the men and women to be shown brief clips of what their partners have been doing.
Shanté is upset and shocked by Brion’s behavior, and he feels a little remorseful when he sees that he made her cry. But Brion believes she will take him back and decides to be more faithful for the remainder of the series.
When the couple reunite at the end of the series, Shanté criticizes Brion for cheating and saying he doesn’t regret the threesome. Brion tears up, apologizes, and says he’s a changed man.
Shanté says she wants to put herself first and initially seems to be breaking up with him, but after a long conversation, she takes him back because she believes he’s matured.
Brion and Shanté are still together after ‘Temptation Island’
Brion and Shanté told Netflix’s Tudum that they spoke about the entire experience after leaving the show, which gave them closure.
Shanté said she wished Brion did not need to have the threesome to realize what he wanted, but she thinks it helped them have tough conversations and get closer.
Brion said, “I regret what I did, but I know it needed to happen, because grew up a lot.”
They said they are planning to move in together once Brion’s current lease is up and hope to marry and have kids in the future.
On Wednesday, Brion also shared an Instagram post of pictures and videos of the couple over the last year.
“We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We’ll keep growing, laughing, and building together,” Brion wrote in the caption.
Shanté reshared the post on her Instagram story.
Season one of Netflix’s “Temptation Island” is available to stream.
