Aespa is gearing up to release their first album, Armageddon, and the girl group is in full promotional mode. The South Korean vocal troupe recently dropped the first single from that forthcoming project, and now it’s become a hit on several Billboard charts. Their latest track is so popular, in fact, that it’s even managed to revive an older tune from the outfit.

“Supernova” debuts on a trio of Billboard rankings this frame. Just one is based solely in the U.S., as the track became an instant smash all around the world.

This week, “Supernova” debuts at No. 5 on the World Digital Song Sales chart. The South Korean girl group earns the second-loftiest start this frame, coming in behind only Joost’s “Europapa.” That cut stands out as one of the most popular tracks from the most recent Eurovision Song Contest.

“Supernova” marks Aespa’s seventh top 10 hit on the World Digital Song Sales chart. They are quickly racking up big wins on the ranking of the bestselling “world” tunes in the U.S., as they add to their growing total fairly regularly.

As “Supernova” launches in fifth place on the world sales chart, the single also arrives on both of the international songs rankings. The lead cut from Armageddon starts at No. 50 on the Billboard Global 200 and No. 23 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. The latter tally excludes all consumption data from the United States, and that usually favors international acts.

Aespa’s new single has drawn attention to some of their past tracks, and this week, one of them mounts a comeback. “Drama” reappears on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. this week at No. 182. The single, which was released in 2023, once climbed as high as No. 21, and it’s now spent 19 frames on the list.

Armageddon is expected to arrive this Friday, May 27. Aespa has thus far released plenty of singles and four EPs, but they waited several years before dropping a full-length. That’s not unusual in the K-pop space, as now the girl group is famous enough to hope for a solid chart placement with their album.
